My brain is trying to tell my camera to take pictures like this. My camera is trying to tell my brain the same thing. Everything you will find here is beautiful.

Oh Canada!

Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians!

I'm feverishly packing and baking/cooking to prepare for a little Camping at Christina Lake but couldn't resist taking a much needed blog break... On my blog travels today, I came accross this great Orla Kiely giveaway and couldn't NOT mention it, over at Kelly Rae Roberts' blog- a fave place to drop in of mine. Why not enter and maybe even stop by and visit Kelly from time to time. I think you'll like it there too!

Just finished a super cute top for a friend's daughter's birthday present, will post some pics if I get a cooperative model. I couldn't resist this Alexander Henry fabric and finally got to make it into something! Iused Patty Young's Kyoko Pattern- also a new favourite!

In preparation for the Fat Cat Festival... Duncan said he could have handed out many, many business cards to drum up face painting business!
I'm off to buy some more face paints for my stash- they NEVER go on sale and they are today!

My avatar looks nothing like me these days

There, I said it. I haven't looked this way for a long time, actually. On my list is to rectify that. Just need to put a phone call in to my friendly love of a hairdresser...

I Spy

I've been drooling over images from the Farm Chicks show that took place last weekend- which, incidentally I am NOT missing next year... and lo and behold... I Spy... My little blue vase of the hugging lovies that Duncan teased me about. I paid $2 for mine (I did have to drive an hour round trip, though...) I just showed him the picture and he's much cooler with it now... So I may be able to turn him around to my junking ways in time to spend all my money next year. Perhaps I should finish painting the vintage high chair first...

I had origianlly planned on extending the invite to friends to come along to the show- considering I do have a 7 passenger vehicle now... but there are no friends when it comes to getting all your wonderful finds home accross the border. And let's face it- I could fill the Volvo in a heartbeat.

Face Value

When things start to get a little monotonous around here and it seems all the kids want to do is whine and fight there's only one thing to do- break out the facepaints. With a little facepainting gig next week, I have been practicing to expand my repertoire... unwittingly setting myself up for a spur of the moment day of painting at Lily's school for their primary play day. (Lily was kind enough to volunteer me and my paints) I'm pretty sure our booth was a big hit!

the end of an era?

Goodbye sweet mini, we are so sad to see you go...

Getting ready for our new family car- Papa will be so happy since he thought the mini was such a death trap and his granddaughters were at risk... Truth be told, when I signed on to Real age it did decrease my life expectancy by 2 years because of the small car. And I thought sports cars were supposed to make you feel young...
It will be a sad day around here when the trade is finally done- short lived, though because it's not like we're getting the "vansectomy" as Duncan likes to say. Volvo here we come!

cute stuff coming your way!

I may perhaps have a number of cute items in the current issue of simply handmade...Picture-171-300x248Picture-181-299x140

Check out all the softie goodness on the newsstands now- or hop over for a sneek peek at the simply handmade blog if you just can't wait. Inside you'll also find a toy fender stratocaster and robot girl, with a couple patterns to boot!
I can't wait to get my hot little hands on it- along with the next issue with more fun from little old me!

no, really, your eyes are not deceiving you

I'm back online...

MAN alot has changed since my last post (gasp! in 2007!) I didn't have the heart to delete the old blog since I do love so many of my old posts- and I always knew I'd be back- just didn't imagine it would be such a long break!
My plan is to get a big bunch of pictures chosen to really show everyone what's been shakin' and a whole new look for my home base... stay tuned, I promise it won't be 2 years until I'm back again...
Until then, why not jam out to my favorite new music, get yourself some Lykke Li- here's a little teaser: Lykke Li Black Cab Sessions

tagged!

The lovely Madamoiselle Sabine was kind enough to tag me- which I am sure will make Lacintha REALLY hahpy 'cause she'll at least have something new to read about here- tee hee!
The rules:

Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to blog about their seven things and post the rules as well. At the end of your blog, you need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog!

1. Regardless of what time of day or night, I can't have a shower without immediately brushing my teeth afterwards. Suddenly, with my body all clean, my teeth just feel like they're wearing sweaters.

2. I randomly translate things I'm thinking/reading into French for no reason at all, other than I can.

3. When I'm finished a scrapbook layout, I take a few steps back and look at it cross-eyed to see if there are any composition issues. For some reason, this helps me see if there are any distracting elements. Go figure.

4. I turned down an apprenticeship to become a tattoo artist, and I think about it often... "I wonder what would have happened if..." I know one thing's for sure, I'd be a painted lady- so I'm glad I'm not, I really have little self control.

5. I fell into a construction fire when I was 5 years old (we lived on acreage and it was on a neighbouring lot- oh, and we played all day like little savages, with no adults to shoo us away) and got a bad burn on my leg stopped only by my rubber boots. I took them (the boots) and my burned cords to school for show and tell.

6. I have listened to my Lily Allen CD so many times inthe car now that my 4 year old knows the words better than I do. I make a concerted effort not to sing the f-bombs and hope that my Lily doesn't figure out what she's saying- 'cause I do really like the music... bad parenting? I suppose, yes, once she drops an f-bomb in song...

7. I dream of a road trip to the Oregon coast with my good friends who can all miraculously fit into my mini comfortably. We'll wear glamorous scarves and big sunglasses and most everyone who passes us will be jealous of what a fantastic time we're having. There will be good music and arms raised to the sky. Oh- and I'll look good in my bathing suit too...

And so, without further ado, I tag:
Kelli, Lianne, Cheryl, Heather, Lacintha, Joy, Jenny

Spread the word! Alright- some good things never change- so they're still here. QUICHE LIKE NO OTHER: Beehive Bistro (Kelowna, BC) Bacon and Mushroom Quiche. I crave it and I'm a vegetarian. now that's good. hahahaha. A TREAT TO SOLVE WORLD PROBLEMS: Chocolate dipped twizzlers, The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Don't try these. You won't like them. FAKE IT: Clarins sunless tanner. I'm so pale I border on blue. This helps prevent car accidents from the glare. MARVELOUS MELODIES: Jack Johnson makes my heart sing. It doesn't matter which album you buy, just do it NOW. He's still dreamy- but I'm super diggin' on Lily Allen... love all the ultra british stuff here- make me feel fun drivin' the mini around... BEJEWELED: I'm in love with hotcakes designs- just got a birdie necklace from them- makes me smile just thinkin' about it. ARTSY: My love for golden acrylic paints knows no bounds. WRITE ON: Thank you, Joy for introducing me to Pilot Parallel Pens. I am now totally broke. TO DO: Garden party for the ladies a la Oprah's Legends Ball. My friends and I are all legends in our own minds and I am without a doubt showin' them a good time this summer. Do it for your friends too, and get all dressed up and feelin' pretty. I love an excuse to buy a pretty dress.
